On the days when I have zero human contact until 7:30 p.m., I start to get a little crazy. Thankfully, I’m not a cat person because if I had cats on those days, my neighbors and others might start labeling me in an unkind way.
I forget to brush my hair. No makeup. No jewelry. No shoes. At 7:00, I’m still wearing the workout clothes I wore when I worked out in our basement, midday.
The dog and I have full conversations and I say ridiculous things to him in funny voices while chasing him around the house, for fun. I eat but not at the designated times because I forget. Until the stomach growling begins.
Finally, around 6:00, I stop work of any kind. I read a book or watch TV or play games on my iPad. Then the husband calls and suggests we go out somewhere nice for dinner. I’m not about to turn that down.
The hard part is getting myself up and out of this internal world so I can shower, get dressed and be ready to go in less than an hour.
