I put off writing today’s blog all day.
Usually by dinnertime, it’s written. Not today. I didn’t feel like doing it and I didn’t have any ideas for content.
When my daughter got home around 8:30, I asked her what she thought I should write about.
She pretended to think for about two minutes and then asked if I wanted to watch an episode of “Friends” with her. To which I said yes, and put off the blog for another half an hour.
Then we talked for a few minutes. She went upstairs. I got a glass of water and opened my computer.
I had nothing.
So I started reading a few articles I’d put in the to be read folder. Nothing I wanted to write about.
Finally I decided to dive in despite not having anything to say. And after I wrote the words (Day 102), my husband and our friend Jeff, who were returning from the new Mad Max movie, came in for a drink.
I took that opportunity to procrastinate a little bit more. And try to get them to come up with an idea for me.
Instead Jeff asked me how many people read my blog. I gave him a number and he seemed shocked by the lack of zeroes after the number. He thought at least 60,000 people read it then told me his wife (one of my close friends) reads it every day. Not exactly news to me.
Then, he suggested that if I wrote about Caitlyn Jenner I might get some more readers. I couldn’t think of anything interesting to say about her that hasn’t already been said so I shut down that idea.
Maybe I can write something about Mad Max, I said. Both guys shook their heads no. Nothing there except maybe that much of the action in the movie was over the top. And Max was kind of a boring character. But Charlize Theron did a great job.
So, to clarify, I never came up with a blog idea and I wasted a few minutes of your time reading this. Not feeling confident that I’ll reach that 60,000 subscriber count today.
