Best moment of my day: I was standing in the kitchen minding my own business when I heard my daughters (17 & 18), who haven’t seen each other in 5 months, in another room, giggling uncontrollably. Off and on for quite awhile.
Their feet are no longer small and don’t go pitter-pat, but the sounds of them together reminds me of all of those years of dress-up and make-believe and art projects followed in their teens by private conversations in one or the other’s room and ice cream runs and concerts. Hearing them now gives me an indescribable sense of hope for the future.
I’m sure there will be some push and pull after #1 has been home for a few more days, especially since #2 now has her license and they will have to coordinate use of the car. But, I don’t mind. As long as the private jokes and laughter continues.
