There is something special about going to a restaurant that hasn’t pandered to the style of the moment.
For my daughter’s birthday, we went to a nearby place called Antique Table that serves homestyle Italian food. The restaurant is small and cozy, decorated like a family room, not like a decorator-styled dining room. The food is typical Italian fare (chicken and veal piccata, francese, and marsala; eggplant and chicken parmesan; bolognese, marinara, and alfredo sauces) and everything comes with fresh bread with pesto/olive oil and pasta.
For the gluten-intolerant and dairy-free among us, this is not the place to go, but boy did we have a nice meal.
It’s nice to go someplace that feels like home but requires nothing of me: no planning, no cooking, no cleaning.
