I’ll give you the first few words and you can belt out the whole song if you’d like. Maybe not if you’re sitting in a meeting (what’re doing reading blog posts during a meeting?)

If you’re anything like me, those 70’s TV show theme songs have been stuck in your head for decades. I say it’s time to let them out. Just think: It’s proof that your memory is still in tact. And if you don’t remember the words, well, you can watch the youtube videos (just click on the name of the show) and slip back in time for a few minutes. Even if you do remember the words, you can click the links and sing along.

Here are 10 of my favorites 70s TV show theme songs:

  1. Gilligan’s Island: “Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale. A tale of a fateful trip . . . “
  2. All In The Family: “Boy the way Glen Miller played. Songs that made the hit parade . . .”
  3. The Jeffersons: “We’re moving on up. Moving on up. To the East Side. . . “
  4. Green Acres: “Green Acres is the place to be. Farm living is the life for me. . .”
  5. Happy Days: “Sunday, Monday, happy days. Tuesday, Wednesday, happy days. . .”
  6. Mary Tyler Moore Show: “Who can turn the world on with her smile. Who can take a nothing day . . .”
  7. The Love Boat: “Love. Exciting and new. Come aboard. We’re expecting you . . .”
  8. The Brady Bunch: “Here’s a story of a lovely lady who was bringing up three very lovely girls. . . “
  9. The Beverly Hillbillies: “Listen to my story ’bout a man named Jed. A poor mountaineer but he kept his family fed. . . “
  10. Cheers: “Making your way in the world today takes everything you got. Taking a break from all your worries sure would help a lot. . .”

Any glaring misses here? Favorites I forgot or didn’t have space to include? Do tell.

  1. Good that you posted all ten, because that way I won’t get a single one of them stuck in my head for the rest of the day. Nothing like one of these catchy little tunes to make a brainworm…

  2. Coincidentally enough, some people and I sang “Gilligan’s Island” and “The Beverly Hillbillies” on Facebook just the other day, except with more typing and less actual singing 😉
